 First stages

The project was to redesign a book cover.  The book I choose is called Luck of the Draw.

Summary on the back of the book
Brighton Andrews has never lost a bet with his roommates and he is not about to lose this one.
The bet is to take three different girls who are
roommates on two dates each, but they can’t know that they are dating the same guy.
There is a time frame of only four weeks for him to finish. Things start to get complicated when one of the girls turns him down and leaves to visit home for two weeks. If he wins he has a month free from laundry. Will he give up when he is so close?  

I had some ideas that involved cards, laundry, and calendars. At first I was just putting any ideas that I had together to see how it would all turn out. Then I took a bunch of pictures of cards, laundry, and I even made a calender and took pictures of that too. I looked at the pictures to try and come up with something that worked. The calender and laundry looked funny to me so I ended up just using the cards and leaving the back cover blank because I have seen book covers without pictures. Then I came up with the design below, but I still needed to change some things about the look and the cards turned out really dark when I printed it.

I was a step closer to the final project. This picture looks boring and it needed more.  

Final Stages

This is the cover that I wanted to turn in, but the cards are really pixelated.

I took another picture with a better camera and turned this one in.

After all of the trouble of fixing that picture the night before, I came back and added some variation. I still haven't decided if I like the card on the back or not.
