Sketching for Pictograms

These are my sketches for my first computers and art project. I scanned them so therefore they are hard to see. It was a little difficult coming up with good ideas for any pictogram besides the ones that we see all of the time. I started with just sketching random things that popped into my head.

I had to pick three items that meant different things, but all three had to relate. I thought about delivery relations and then thought about different mail boxes. After not being satisfied and finding out that they were not different enough I came up with the volleyball idea. Bump Set and Spike. That is when I quickly sketched my ideas.  Below my volleyball sketches is my imitation of my sketches on Illustrator. I am still learning Illustrator so hopefully I will be better some day. That is what I am going to school for. When I am done with my project I will add it on here.

Collage

Above is the collage I made out of magazine pictures and the green converse is a picture that I took previously. I liked the color of the shoe a lot and I thought it would add some variety in my collage.
Below is the same collage, but I replaced all of the pictures with colors on Illustrator. This was my first project on Illustrator, however I have used similar programs. It is more simple looking, but it took a lot more time and effort to create. I didn't add all of the details, but I do like how it looks. I think that most of the objects are still identifiable. I also wasn't sure how to add the words faster and more. I started to play around to see how I wanted to replace them, but sadly I was running out of time and patience.
